Privacy Policy

WealthStart is a values-based financial education application designed to help teenagers (ages 10–19) learn investing and money management. Our service is provided by WealthStart, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"). If you have questions, contact us at support@wealthstartai.com.

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information: Parent's name and email address, chosen password (stored as a secure hash — we never store plain-text passwords).

Child profile information: Child's first name and age range (not date of birth). We do not collect a child's last name, photo, phone number, or school.

Usage data: Lessons completed, XP earned, simulator trades, daily mission results, and in-app quiz answers. This data is used solely to power the app experience and leaderboards.

Payment information: When a subscription is purchased, payment is processed by Square. We store only the transaction status and amount — we never store full card numbers or CVV codes.

Device data: Basic device type and operating system version, collected automatically by Expo/React Native for crash reporting purposes.

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate and improve the WealthStart app and services
• Personalize the learning experience for each child profile
• Process subscription payments
• Send transactional emails (password resets, account notices) — we do not send marketing emails without explicit opt-in
• Respond to support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

WealthStart is designed for use by children under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Parental consent: When a child under 13 uses WealthStart, the parent or guardian creates the account, provides their own name and email, and consents to the child's use of the app. We do not directly solicit personal information from children under 13.

Child data: We collect only the child's first name and age range — the minimum necessary to deliver the educational experience. We do not use this information for advertising.

Parental rights: Parents may review, correct, or delete their child's information at any time by contacting support@wealthstartai.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and accounting purposes).

We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, and access controls on our servers. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

WealthStart uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Square — payment processing
• Anthropic Claude — AI Finance Coach responses (no personal data is sent; only your question text)
• Finnhub / Alpha Vantage — stock market data
• Plaid — optional bank account linking for parents

We recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy for more information.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@wealthstartai.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of WealthStart after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
